NKWO is an artisanal brand at the forefront of Nigeria's sustainable fashion movement, relaunched in 2012 by founder Nkwo Onwuka. Guided by a “Philosophy of Less,” the label creates limited-edition pieces by transforming post-consumer waste, such as denim and end-of-line fabrics, into new textiles. Central to this is the brand's invention of Dakala™ cloth, a novel material created by stripping and sewing together fabric scraps to mimic traditional African woven textiles. This process not only addresses textile waste but also preserves and modernizes heritage craft skills.
