Founded in 2003 in New York City by Lyz Olko, a designer rooted in punk and zine culture, and Josh Conner, Obesity and Speed emerged as a defining fixture of the downtown indie scene. Born out of a DIY ethos and named after a punk song lyric, the brand initially gained traction when a hand-sewn shirt caught the eye of Gwen Stefani’s stylist. Obesity and Speed is known for its dark, underground aesthetic, blending punk sensibilities with skate culture and art.
