panerai

Founded in Florence in 1860, Panerai's horological journey is deeply intertwined with the city's legacy of precision instrument making. For decades, the brand was the exclusive supplier of high-precision timepieces and optical instruments to the Royal Italian Navy, cementing its reputation for robust, functional, and highly legible watches designed for demanding underwater conditions. This military heritage is most evident in its two iconic case designs: the Radiomir and the Luminor, the latter distinguished by its signature crown-protecting bridge. The brand's early use of radium-based powder, "Radiomir," to illuminate its dials for visibility in the dark was a groundbreaking innovation that has remained a core part of its design DNA, now achieved with modern Super-LumiNova.
