Phyto is a French haircare brand founded in 1965 by celebrity hairstylist Patrick Alès. Conceived long before the trend of botanical beauty became mainstream, the brand was born from Alès's dual passions for hair and plants. While working as a salon apprentice in 1950s Paris, Alès observed the damaging effects of chemical-laden products and envisioned a gentler, plant-based alternative. This mission led to the creation of "Phytothérathrie"—meaning "haircare by plants"—and the launch of his first products, which quickly gained a following among his elite clientele, including Catherine Deneuve and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
