Founded in Toronto in 1961 by Japanese-Canadian designer Luke Tanabe, Ports 1961 began with a simple vision: to create the perfect shirt for his wife, which evolved into the iconic “No. 10 Blouse.” Originally rooted in a jet-set ethos of “global soul, urban spirit,” the brand became known for its well-crafted, clean, and modern clothing for ambitious, traveling women. After being acquired in 1989 and expanding significantly in Asia, the contemporary luxury line, Ports 1961, was launched in 2004 to present a more design-focused collection to the international market. The brand’s design headquarters later moved to Milan, cementing its commitment to fine materials and Italian craftsmanship.
