Founded in 1978 by aerospace engineer George Powell and professional skateboarder Stacy Peralta, Powell-Peralta became a foundational force in modern skateboarding. The Santa Barbara-based company fused Powell’s technical expertise in materials with Peralta’s visionary approach to team marketing and filmmaking. This partnership led to the creation of the legendary Bones Brigade, a team of young skaters including Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, and Lance Mountain, who collectively redefined what was possible on a skateboard.
