Founded in 1978 in California by engineer George Powell and professional skateboarder Stacy Peralta, Powell-Peralta is one of the most influential brands in skateboarding history. The brand rose to prominence in the 1980s by assembling the legendary Bones Brigade team—which included icons like Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, and Steve Caballero—and producing groundbreaking skate films. Powell-Peralta is celebrated for its signature skull-and-sword graphics created by artist Vernon Courtlandt Johnson (VCJ), which remain some of the most recognizable visual codes in skate culture.
