Founded in 2014 by designer Daisuke Ishii, RoToTo is a Japanese accessories brand built on the concept of creating “lifelong consumables.” The brand operates from Japan’s historic sock-making region, Nara Prefecture, where textile production has been a cornerstone for over a century. RoToTo honors this legacy by manufacturing its socks and beanies in local factories, combining traditional techniques with a modern design approach. Central to its process is the use of vintage, low-gauge knitting machines that require significant hands-on operation, a deliberate move away from mass automation to prioritize quality and texture. This small-batch production allows for meticulous attention to detail and a superior, durable finish that cannot be replicated by modern equipment.
