Founded in Brussels in 1938 by Otto Hertz, Scabal (an acronym for Société Commerciale Anglo Belgo Allemande Luxembourgeoise) is a world-renowned purveyor of luxury fabrics and tailored menswear. While Belgian in origin, the company’s identity is deeply rooted in English weaving heritage, particularly after acquiring its historic mill in Huddersfield in 1973, a region famous for producing the world’s finest cloth. Scabal controls its entire production process, from sourcing noble raw materials like superfine wools and cashmere to weaving and finishing. The brand is credited with major industry innovations, including pioneering ultra-fine Super 120s to Super 200s wools and inventing the “bunch book” system now standard for tailors globally.
