Founded in Seattle in 1910 as the Seattle Suitcase, Trunk and Bag Manufacturing Company, Skyway has a long history intertwined with the rise of air travel. Inspired by the burgeoning airline industry, the founder's son, Henry Louis Kotkins, introduced the "Skyway" line in 1936, focusing on reliable and accessible luggage for a new generation of international travelers. The company established its reputation through innovation, introducing features like chrome-plated hardware and, most notably, the first commercially successful wheeled luggage in the United States in 1972. Today, as a subsidiary of Ricardo Beverly Hills, Skyway continues to produce a diverse range of travel products, including hardside and softside suitcases, backpacks, and duffels.
