Sleep No More was a groundbreaking immersive theater experience created by the British company Punchdrunk, which ran in New York City from 2011 to early 2025. The production reimagined Shakespeare’s Macbeth as a wordless, film noir tragedy set within the labyrinthine, multi-story McKittrick Hotel. Upon arrival, guests were given an anonymous white mask and set free to explore the meticulously detailed environment at their own pace, following performers or uncovering narrative clues hidden in the scenery. This self-directed format ensured that no two audience members had the same experience, fostering a sense of voyeuristic discovery.
