Founded in 2015 in Michigan by Jonathan Durling—an entrepreneur who spent his childhood in Brazil—Sossego was established to bring the warmth and tranquility of modern Brazilian design to North America. The brand’s name translates to a deep, quiet tranquility, a philosophy that permeates its entire catalog of furniture, lighting, and art. Sossego initially launched as the exclusive US distributor for award-winning designer Aristeu Pires, later expanding to include works by Domingos Tótora and Guilherme Wentz, and eventually acquiring Pires's factory in Southern Brazil. Sossego is celebrated for its sculptural seating, tailored lounge pieces, and organic tables, all defined by buttery-soft, hand-finished wood and fluid, ergonomic curves.
