Founded in 2017 in Los Angeles by Jonathan Kelly, Squishmallows was born after the founder was inspired by the "kawaii" aesthetic of Japanese plush toys. Originally launched by Kelly Toys (now owned by Jazwares), the brand quickly evolved from a simple stuffed animal line into a global collecting phenomenon. Squishmallows are defined by their signature marshmallow-like texture, achieved through a proprietary blend of soft spandex and polyester fiber.
