Founded in 1972 by Earl Beard in the small town of Crockett, Texas, Stan Ray was built on a simple principle: to create durable, high-quality workwear made in the USA. Operating under the parent company Earl's Apparel, the brand established a reputation for its hard-wearing, military-grade cotton sateen garments and classic painter pants. While initially produced for a trade audience, Stan Ray’s authentic, no-fuss designs gained a cult following in Japan’s Americana-obsessed vintage scene in the 1980s, which helped sustain the brand as many others moved production offshore.
