Introduced in 1969 by German sportswear giant Adidas, the Superstar began as a performance basketball shoe before evolving into a global cultural phenomenon. Originally designed as a low-top version of the Pro Model, it was the first basketball shoe to feature an all-leather upper and its now-famous rubber "shell toe." The silhouette quickly dominated the courts, worn by over 75% of NBA players in the 1970s, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
