Founded in 2008 by Hiroyuki Murase, the fifth-generation heir to a renowned Japanese textile family, Suzusan places a centuries-old craft in a contemporary context. Murase, after studying art in Europe, established the label in Düsseldorf, Germany, to create a global market for the traditional Shibori tie-dyeing techniques of his hometown, Arimatsu. This initiative has been pivotal in reviving the local artisan community, which had been in decline, by providing sustainable work for a new generation of craftspeople. The brand’s collections for men and women feature modern silhouettes crafted from luxurious materials like cashmere, silk, and alpaca, each piece distinguished by unique, handmade patterns.
