Founded in 2016 in Okayama, Japan, Tanuki is a premium denim label established by an anonymous collective of seasoned Japanese craftsmen. Built on decades of cumulative loom experience, the brand was created to inject a fresh, modern perspective into the deeply traditional world of Japanese raw denim. Tanuki is defined by its mastery of kibata (unsanforized raw denim) and its ability to manipulate antique shuttle looms to produce highly textured, low-tension fabrics with unique fading characteristics.
