Ouaki, a Tunisian immigrant, introduced the concept of self-service bins and rock-bottom prices, catering initially to working-class families. The brand became instantly recognizable for its signature pink-and-white Vichy (gingham) check print, which adorned its storefronts and ubiquitous carrier bags. Tati offered a vast assortment of affordable apparel, from everyday basics to wedding dresses, operating under the slogan "Les Plus Bas Prix."
