Founded in 2023 by former fashion agent Judy Koloko, The Steam Bar is a London-based premium haircare brand dedicated to curly, coily, and afro-textured hair. Koloko, who previously worked as a director at a top creative agency, launched the brand after experiencing traction alopecia and realizing the lack of luxury scalp care for the Black community. The Steam Bar bridges this gap by merging "skinification"—using active skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid and prebiotics—with the traditional practice of hair steaming to nourish the scalp microbiome and promote healthy hair growth.
