Founded in Bucharest in 2022 by former film student David-Lev Jipa-Slivinschi, Toskovat' is an independent fragrance house that approaches perfumery as a medium for storytelling. Built around the untranslatable Russian concept of toska—a deep, causeless spiritual longing—the brand creates what it calls “extraits de mémoire.” Rather than aiming for conventional beauty, these memory-driven scents are designed to evoke specific, often challenging human experiences, exploring themes like childhood, war, consumerism, and loss. Jipa-Slivinschi’s background in screenwriting directly informs this cinematic, non-linear approach to scent construction.
