Founded in Helsingborg, Sweden, in 1891 by the Dunker family, Tretorn began by making rubber galoshes to protect farmers from the harsh Scandinavian weather. This foundation in utility evolved into a global lifestyle brand, celebrated for its functional outerwear and footwear. Tretorn is credited as the world’s second-oldest sneaker manufacturer, having produced its first pair in 1900. Its most defining product, the Nylite canvas sneaker, was launched in 1967 and became a cultural touchstone after being worn by tennis star Björn Borg and featured in *The Official Preppy Handbook* in the 1980s.
