Founded in 2009 by the Shanghai-based designer, Uma Wang is a label built on the language of fabric. A graduate of China Textile University and Central Saint Martins with a background in textile design, Wang is renowned for her deep, intuitive understanding of materials, developing unique cloths with Italian mills that give her collections a distinctive, tactile quality. Her designs merge an Eastern-influenced philosophy with Western draping, resulting in fluid, often voluminous silhouettes that prioritize comfort and movement. The brand’s signature is a kind of rugged elegance, where textures like distressed cotton, washed wool, and rich jacquards create a sense of history and permanence.
