UNIF, an acronym for “Ur Not In Fashion,” was founded in Los Angeles in 2010 by Eric Espinoza and Christine Lai. The brand emerged from the city's underground scenes, translating 90s grunge, punk, and Y2K aesthetics into a distinct ready-to-wear collection. Espinoza, a former DJ, began by hand-dying and sewing pieces in his backyard, aiming to create a brand that stood apart from mainstream trends. UNIF quickly cultivated a cult following for its rebellious and ironic style, expressed through shredded knits, bold graphics, and signature platform shoes.
