Founded in 2017 by Jaclyn Souza—a climber and outdoorswoman based in Walnut Creek, California—Uzumati Ceramics creates small-batch, handcrafted stoneware inspired by the rugged landscapes of the High Sierra and beyond. The brand’s name, derived from a Miwok word for "bear" and the root of Yosemite, reflects its deep connection to the natural world. Uzumati’s core product lines include functional tableware and home objects, such as the rust-glazed Bronzed Rock Mug and the speckled Snow Creek Mug, which are hand-thrown, carved, and glazed to evoke the textures of arid deserts and snow-dusted mountains.
