Founded in 2019 in New Orleans by Rachel Clinesmith, an autistic makeup artist with a background in haunted houses and horror films, Vampyre Cosmetics emerged as a gothic indie beauty brand catering to the alternative and cosplay communities. The brand built a cult following by renouncing traditional beauty standards and offering highly pigmented, long-lasting formulas designed for stage and screen. Vampyre Cosmetics became known for its elaborate, collectible packaging and officially licensed collaborations with nostalgic pop-culture properties like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Emily the Strange, and Dungeons & Dragons.
