Founded in Paris in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels originated from the marriage of Estelle Arpels, daughter of a gemstone dealer, and Alfred Van Cleef, son of a stonecutter. This union of gem expertise and creative craftsmanship established the Maison's identity, with its first boutique opening on the prestigious Place Vendôme. The brand is defined by its whimsical and poetic style, drawing inspiration from nature, fairies, dance, and couture. Signature creations include the four-leaf clover-inspired Alhambra collection, first launched in 1968 and symbolizing luck, which has become a globally recognized emblem of the house. Another iconic design is the transformable Zip necklace, an audacious piece of engineering that can be worn as a necklace or a bracelet, which was famously inspired by the Duchess of Windsor in the 1930s.
