Founded in 2013 in Milan by Virgil Abloh, a trained architect and former creative director for Kanye West, Off-White was conceived to define "the grey area between black and white." The brand successfully bridged the gap between underground streetwear and high fashion, offering seasonal ready-to-wear, sculptural sneakers, and industrial-inspired accessories. Aimed at a youthful, culturally engaged audience, Off-White established a distinct visual language characterized by signature quotation marks, zip-ties, and diagonal arrows. Abloh’s "three-per-cent approach" to design—altering an existing object just enough to make it new—became a defining ethos, allowing the label to playfully subvert everyday garments into luxury items.
