Von Dutch is an American fashion brand that became a global phenomenon in the early 2000s, largely defined by its signature trucker hats. The brand was posthumously named after Kenny Howard, a rebellious artist and pinstriper from the mid-20th century Kustom Kulture movement. While Howard himself had no part in the clothing line, entrepreneurs Michael Cassel and Robert Vaughn acquired the rights to his name and signature, launching the apparel brand in 1999. With the help of French designer Christian Audigier, Von Dutch was catapulted to fame, becoming the unofficial uniform for the era's biggest celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Ashton Kutcher, and Britney Spears.
