x-girl

Founded in 1994 by Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon and stylist Daisy von Furth, X-Girl emerged as a pioneering force in women's streetwear. Created as a sister brand to XLARGE, it was born out of a desire to design "real clothing" for girls who wanted skate-inspired apparel without drowning in oversized menswear. The brand quickly became a cornerstone of the 1990s indie and grunge aesthetic, offering a mix of mod-inspired silhouettes, graphic baby tees, A-line minidresses, and utilitarian pants. X-Girl's cultural impact was cemented by its early adoption by figures like Chloë Sevigny and Sofia Coppola, who helped produce its legendary 1994 guerrilla fashion show in Soho.
