This A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual, reference 410.030D, is the first white gold example of the model and the watch that introduced the pairing of a white gold case with a grey dial, a combination that has since become a Lange signature. This model is exceedingly rare as it showcases the seldom-seen German calendar. It belongs to the first series, produced only briefly and identifiable by the applied Roman numerals that the second series abandoned in favor of baton markers. Very few reached the market, and it ranks among the rarest and most significant white gold Langes of its era. The manually wound calibre L952.1, assembled from 556 parts, drives a column wheel flyback chronograph with precisely jumping minute counter, a perpetual calendar, and Lange's outsize date. The white gold case measures 41mm in height and 41mm in width with a thickness of 13.5mm, weighty in the hand yet quietly composed on the wrist. The dial carries its many indications with unusual restraint. As Lange's first watch to unite a chronograph with a perpetual calendar, the Datograph Perpetual remains a benchmark of modern Saxon watchmaking, and this first-series white gold reference stands among its most collectible expressions.
