Made in New York City’s Garment District, the coat is constructed from a herringbone from Magee of Donegal.Magee has been making genuine Irish tweed in Donegal circa 1866. Generations later, the family continues to weave in Donegal, maintaining a tradition closely tied to the landscape and natural materials of the region. The inherent irregularity of this herringbone pattern gives the cloth its distinct texture and depth.We’re proud to say that this is our first garment made in New York City’s Garment District. Once a key region of American apparel manufacturing, the community of garment-makers has changed considerably over time. Skilled craftspeople continue to make apparel in the city, preserving generations of manufacturing knowledge with every garment.The Irish Tweed Overcoat draws from the Balmacaan tradition: raglan sleeves for ease of movement, a generous collar, removable belt, and simple slash pockets at the hips.
