The Folklore Pendant is a jewelry object: a beaded necklace built to carry as much as it adorns. An 85cm strand of vintage, hand-blown black crystal beads, graduated in size, holds a sculptural pendant designed to open in the gesture of a small pouch. The pendant takes the form of an “egg,” 3D-printed in a slate biomaterial, that opens along its curve and closes again around a hand-shaped brass clasp, a motif that recurs throughout the Beatriz Palacios universe. It is finished with a red agate drop set in sterling silver. The piece is designed to be worn in two ways. The beaded strand detaches from the pendant and can be worn on its own, as a choker, while the full piece reads as a long, layered necklace. Part of the FOLKLORE Collection, the Pendant reclaims the beaded necklace once worn by Goya’s majas: ornament as identity, adornment as a quiet act of defiance, reimagined here through a neo-romantic, contemporary lens.
