Inside Cosi Tabellini’s Brescia workshop, the age-old art of pewtering is kept alive. To bring designs such as this parmesan dish to life, craftspeople begin with a prototype, either sculpted from scratch or revived from an original iron mold. Molten pewter is then poured, cooled and released before being polished and hand-welded into form. The final flourish comes in the chiseling and engraving, each piece finished with touchmarks that whisper of its maker’s hand and the enduring tradition it belongs to.
