In 1975, Gabriele de Vecchi – the son of De Vecchi’s founder, Piero – laid the foundations for the H²O water jug. He chose a rectangular silver form, which he softened with an olive wood handle and a fluid base, details that would later feature in the pared-back collections of the 1990s. Each handcrafted aspect is a testament to the Italian craftsmanship behind it, as well as the highly reflective properties of curved silver. An example of this piece is on permanent display at a museum in Ghent.
