The iconic Royal System® shelving (1948) was Danish designer Poul Cadovius’s elegant, innovative solution to heavy furniture that he felt took up too much floor space. One of the first wall-mounted storage systems, it was designed to move furniture off the floor and onto the walls, bringing in more space and light. The Royal System Cabinet can be added to any Royal System Shelving unit (sold separately), thanks to the uniform sizing of all components. Cabinets (all the same size) come as a two-door cabinet; a drop-front, single-door cabinet; or a two-door, sliding door cabinet with cut-out finger pulls. The two-door cabinets have one interior shelf. The drop-front cabinet doesn't have an interior shelf, but its drop-down door can serve as a desk. There is also a three-drawer cabinet with one shallow drawer and two larger drawers. Also, there's an option to include rippled glass sliding doors. Woven Cabinet Doors, with beautifully woven wood veneer doors, part of the original Royal System in the early 1950s, have been recently re-released to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Royal System.
