SWIRLING SIMPLICITY Simple details are always beautiful. This belt and buckle, crafted by Comstock Silversmiths, is the epitome of that. The sleek vintage leather strap is a great base for the German silver buckle's details. Swirling scroll details are etched throughout the round buckle. It may be a simple belt, but it isn't lacking in beauty. History: Comstock Silversmiths, one of "America's Oldest Western Silversmiths," began in San Francisco in 1886 as J.C. Irvine Company (later Irvine & Jachens), making brass and silver conchos and badges. Christian Stegman bought the company in the 1920s, and it produced silverwork for saddles until the late 1950s. By 1971, Christian Stegman's son, Howard Stegman (James’ dad), renamed his portion Comstock Silversmiths, shifted its focus to silver buckles, and moved to Carson City, Nevada. In 1993, James re-launched Comstock Heritage, which continues to produce fine silver and gold buckles today.
