This IWC Vintage Portofino Hand-Wound, reference IW544805, comes from the manufacture's Vintage Collection — a set of re-editions of six legendary IWC models created to mark the brand's 140th anniversary — and this platinum version is limited to 500 pieces. Powered by the hand-wound calibre 98800, a movement drawn from IWC's historic family of pocket-watch calibres, it drives a small seconds at six o'clock and a moon phase at twelve, the latter accurate to within a single day over 122 years and adjustable directly through the crown. The platinum case measures a generous 46mm across yet only 11mm in thickness, its pocket-watch-inspired proportions wearing with surprising grace, the finely finished movement on view through a sapphire back.
