Botticelli painted for the Medici at the height of Florentine humanism, and this volume carries the two works that made his name inseparable from the Renaissance itself — Primavera and Venus and Mars — reproduced full color and large-format, the kind of scale that lets you actually see the line work he was known for, decorative and classical at once. Originally published in 1937 with an essay by art historian Lionello Venturi, updated here with a new introduction from Alessandro Cecchi, former curator of Renaissance paintings at the Uffizi. Fine papers, tipped-on plates, part of the Phaidon Classics series.
