## Summary

Glazed ceramic pasta bowl featuring a central illustration of a she-wolf with a crown and banner, enclosed in an orange circular border with a black rim.

## Description

These bowls are a celebration of the Palio—a wild and intoxicating horse race that takes place in the main piazza of Siena, Italy. Each piece displays a symbol that correlates to one of the teams, based on the different districts in the city. Recognised by Consorzio per la Tutela del Palio di Siena (Consortium for the protection of Siena’s Palio – Consorzio) Lupa (The She-Wolf): Traditionally, the residents of Lupa were bakers. The she-wolf of this contrada refers to the legend that Siena was founded by Senius and Aschius, the sons of Remus, who were raised by a wolf. Because of this, Lupa's sister city is Rome. Lupa has no allies; its rival is Istrice, since 1934.
