The S0710XX “Washi” denim from Samurai is built around an unconventional material choice that gives the fabric its character from the start. Traditional Japanese washi paper is blended into the weft yarns, drawing on a material long used in calligraphy and shoji screens for its strength and lightness. The warp yarns are spun from extra-long staple cotton, selected for a smooth, almost silk-like hand that contrasts nicely with the texture introduced by the washi. The result is a 15oz selvedge denim that feels distinct on the body, breathable and dry with a structured drape that holds its shape. Given a single rinse to remove shrinkage, the fabric retains its texture while being ready to wear from day one.
