Studio D’artisan’s D1894 “Sou‑Ai” jeans showcase a deeply textured 15 oz selvedge denim woven on power looms with alternating slub yarns - one dyed red‑cast indigo, the other green‑cast indigo - to create a rich, multi-tonal warp that contrasts subtly with a natural ecru weft and highlights a pronounced “rain streak” effect common in traditional Tokushima dyeing (natural dyeing). This unsanforized denim is lightly rinsed to preserve its slubby hand while reducing shrinkage. This creates a nice crunchy texture we love in one rinse denims. You'll also notice all the classic construction details, including custom copper rivets, selvedge-cut fifth-pocket, herringbone pocket bags, offset belt loop, chain-stitched hem, and a leather Sou‑Ai patch. Over time, the dual-indigo warp develops high-contrast fades and depth unlike any standard indigo denim, making this both a visual standout and an enduring staple made entirely in Japan.
