## Description

Around the shop we call them ‘Instant Ancestors’ and even if they’re not yours, there is no reason that you can’t claim them! This dapper gentleman is the perfect example, he’s clearly someone’s grand-pa, or even great-great, although when this portrait was done it’s doubtful he was even anyone’s father! This young man has been meticulously captured in paint and preserved under glass for over 150 years. This wonderful miniature is set into an elaborate Etruscan Revival frame that was hand crafted in 15 karat gold in about 1877. I think it was made as a gift for a wife or mother, as it’s inscribed to the reverse with ‘Edith H Loy, 23 Jany 1877’. This fantastic locket pendant measures 62 mm from the top of the bale to the bottom of the drop, it’s 28.6 mm across and 7.8 mm thick. This unmarked pendant tests as 15 karat gold and weighs 11.6 grams. I offer free layaway on most items purchased for full retail price, please inquire if you are interested in setting up a layaway.
