SYMPHONY NO. 25 IN C MAJOR, Hob. I.25 by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) was probably composed between 1761 and 1763. Despite its C major disposition, the work lacks the expected parts for trumpet and timpani. Also unusually, it omits a slow movement. An adagio opening provides balance to the three-part structure and anticipates the slow introductions which so often appear in his later symphonies. Instrumentation: 2.0.0.0: 2.0.0.0: Str (4.4.3.3.3 in set).
